Our school innovated to provide a safe, loving, and reliable school experience for all of our students, including:
Delivering clear and concise guidelines for back-to-school safety on campus
Successful COVID-19 mitigation strategies - not a single case recorded!
In-person learning for most of our students, most of the time
Taking learning into outdoor classrooms
Our community welcomed growth and found new ways to stay engaged, including:
Adding 30 new UVWS families in 2020-2021
Hosting virtual gatherings such as UVWS trivia night, Zoom crafting, and regular class parent meetings
Offering five continuous weeks of summer camp programs
Increasing overall enrollment by 10 students in 2021-2022—a 7.5% jump!
Our leadership demonstrated capability and vision, including:
Adding three new trustees to our Board, including two UVWS alumni
Developing and approving a three-year strategic plan
For our faculty and staff, we provided essential support, including:
Covering significant COVID-19 related expenses, such as faculty laptops and IT service for remote work and learning programs
Offering additional wages and benefits through grant funding for increased staff needs
Providing professional development opportunities, such as:
A year-long faculty study on trauma and anti-bias education, led by our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action (IDEA) Committee
Participation in Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN) Conference for Early Childhood Educators
Participation in the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) Conference
For our families, we stayed committed to keeping UVWS accessible, including:
Ambitious fundraising to meet our community’s needs
Providing over $400,000 in tuition adjustment
Returning to extended after school care for working parents in 2021-2022
